Archaeological and historical monuments and relics of the constant change of our cultural landscape are part of our cultural heritage, which in turn wholly essential to the identity of our Society. The answers to the questions who we are and where we come from, definitions of home and culture, all this requires the knowledge of our past. Looking at the past as a dark forest, it leaves behind, while treading a little predictable way in the future, are ancient places and objects that you can touch and see signposts that show us where we once have gone along. Rheinhessen is rich in such landmarks, and they let us look back many millennia into the past.
